Frank Masi and B____ (B Space) are excited to announce Tablets 2017-2021, a solo exhibition by Los Angeles-based artist Don Edler. Edler will be showing a selection of large sculptural narrative tableaux and furniture sculpture created over the past 4 years. Please join us for a socially distanced opening reception this Sunday, September 12th from 10am- 6pm at 4633-4635 Eagle Rock Blvd, Los Angeles. Refreshments will be provided in the shaded patio and the artist will be present. Masks and Vaccines are required.

Made of found and recycled materials gathered from the refuse of entertainment production jobs, Edler’s works incorporate a combination of handmade marks, urban detritus, and cast forms that recall enigmatic petroglyphs from another time. Coated in a translucent, organic layer of artist-made recycled waxes, the sculptures reference archaeological sites and the aesthetics of how we understand ourselves and our planet by studying our past. Informed by various current political conversations such as biopolitics and climate change, the diffuse compositions contain dynamic and on-going portraits of human life on Earth. Edler’s low-relief sculptures function as a reminder of our shifting understanding of what constitutes “the natural” in an ecology increasingly influenced by human-made materials and circumstances. Edler has described these works as “experimental images somewhere between a speculative contemporary still-life and an archeological love letter from the Anthropocene.”

Tablets 2017-2021 will open on Sunday, September 12th, and be on view by appointment through Sunday, October 10th at 4633-4635 Eagle Rock Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90041. Appointments may be made via email at b.space.losangeles@gmail.com
